Vesting Carnegie Mellon University Faculty and Staff Retirement Plan "Vesting" refers to an employee's right, usually earned over time, to receive some retirement benefits regardless of whether or not they remain with the employer. You will be fully vested in the Carnegie Mellon University Faculty and Staff Retirement Plan after three years of service with Carnegie Mellon University or when you attain age 65. There is a waiting-period exemption for full-time employees who receive credit for past service with an educational organization.
