TIAA-CREF is pleased to help the employees of Stanford University plan for retirement. For over 90 years, we have been helping millions of people in the academic, medical, cultural and research fields plan for retirement. We offer you options to tailor your plan to your investment style and goals.
IMPORTANT: Earlier this year, Stanford University announced changes to the Stanford SCRP and TDA retirement plan investment choices, including changes to the TIAA-CREF annuity investments available for your future contributions.

With these changes:

- If you are a current TIAA-CREF participant, you must re-enroll now to continue to invest your retirement assets with TIAA-CREF. If you take no action, your contributions to TIAA-CREF investment options will cease as of November 1, 2009 and will be defaulted to Vanguard. RE-ENROLLMENT IS EASY! Call our Enrollment Hotline at 800-842-2888, or click to RE-ENROLL NOW.

- If you are newly enrolling with TIAA-CREF for the first time under Stanford University's plans, ENROLLMENT IS EASY!

Please see our attached Q & A for additional information about the impact of Stanford’s retirement plan changes on your TIAA-CREF contracts.

TIAA-CREF is dedicated to helping you with this process. We value our relationship with you and the trust that you have placed in us. In turn, it is our mission to provide you the best total value by offering safe and secure retirement options, objective guidance and consistent long-term performance. Our commitment to you is one of the reasons we encourage you to re-enroll with TIAA-CREF under Stanford University's retirement plans, where we provide:
  • Sound guidance. Speak with a TIAA-CREF consultant for answers that make sense for you.
  • Retirement choices that suit your style.
    • A "Build your own portfolio" strategy. You create your own long-term portfolio from a wide range of investment choices. You can refer to sample portfolios showing various risk tolerance levels.
  • Low cost. TIAA-CREF is committed to keeping costs low, with expenses that are among the lowest in the variable annuity and mutual funds industries1.
  • Top ratings. For it's stability, sound investments, claims-paying ability, and overall financial strength, TIAA currently holds the highest possible ratings from the four leading insurance company rating agencies: Standard & Poor's (AAA as of 6/09), Moody's Investors Service (Aaa as of 5/09), A.M. Best (A++ as of 9/08), and Fitch (AAA as of 6/09). These ratings don't apply to variable annuities, mutual funds or any other product or service not fully backed by TIAA's claims-paying ability.
If you are new to the Stanford University 403(b) Retirement Plans, you must first enroll to take advantage of these investment strategies.
